This stone, not a stock one
The gem beside this text is not a photograph and not a video. It is built from the proportions recorded against this piece and traced facet by facet, so the light coming back out of it is the light this geometry actually returns.
Cut is the one variable a photograph cannot show and the one that costs the most. A stone a degree shallow in the pavilion leaks light through its own back and goes dull in the hand, which is exactly the thing a retouched product shot hides.

The circle is the girdle of the stone at 5.54 mm; the finished piece measures 8.40 mm across. If you have set your screen against a bank card, this is life size. If you have not, it is the browser's guess of 96 pixels to the inch — and it is almost certainly wrong.
Both stones come from a single piece of rough, sawn in two and cut as a pair. Two stones of the same weight and the same grade from two different crystals will still differ slightly in body colour and in the way they hold light, and a pair of earrings is the one place a difference like that is visible — because the two stones are seen together, on a face, from three feet away.
The proportions are Tolkowsky’s, near enough: 34.5° crown, 40.8° pavilion, 56% table. On a stone this size the eye is not reading the pattern of the facets at all, only the total brightness, and there is no proportion that returns more of it.
The posts are 0.9mm platinum with a threaded back. It is a slower fitting than a friction back and it is the reason people do not lose them.
